There is also a feature on this website that allows users to locate hospices by state and county. Parts of this site are also available in Spanish.

    The National Hospice Foundation is committed to improving end-of-life care and expanding access to hospice and palliative care services to improve the quality of life for those who are dying and their loved ones. This organization coordinates hospice and palliative care programs across the world. Caring Connections and the NHPCO are part of it. There is also another organization called
    “The Foundation for Hospices in Sub-Saharan Africa” that falls under this organization.

    Determining appropriateness for Hospice Care:  Predicting a life-expectancy of 6 months or less usually involved a significant, documented deterioration in physical status/function such as weight loss or decreased function and/or and end-stage disease.  Decline may also be due to refusal of treatments, medications or hospitalization aimed at improving or stabilizing an advanced disease.
